A New York City native, Dr. Paul M. Glat grew up in White Plains, New York. After graduating cum laude from Princeton University in 1984, Dr. Glat attended medical school at New York University (NYU) where he served as class president and went on to complete extensive post-graduate training in general surgery. Dr. Glat then received advanced training at NYU’s Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, considered to be one of the finest organizations of its kind in the world. Part of that training was at Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital which provided him additional opportunities to learn from and work with some of the foremost leaders in the field of plastic surgery.
Dr. Glat then expanded his focus and expertise to include reconstructive surgery for children. Upon completing a craniofacial surgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Glat joined the staff at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and began leading the Division of Plastic Surgery. He continues to hold that position in addition to now serving as both the director of Cleft Palate and Craniofacial programs and the director of the Burn Unit.
Dr. Glat is consistently in demand as a guest lecturer at plastic and reconstructive surgery meetings in the United States and abroad. His writings and research have appeared in several major plastic surgery textbooks and over 50 plastic surgery publications. Dr. Glat has also been featured on CBS, ABC, FOX and NBC News.
